Caregivers Visa

The Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilot Programs resumed yesterday, January 1, 2022, allowing eligible caregivers and their family members to come to Canada with the possibility of becoming permanent residents. 

Each pilot will accept a maximum of 2,750 applications for intake each calendar year.

If you have a job offer in Canada as a caregiver or have worked as a caregiver in the past, you may be able to apply for permanent residency through one of these trial programmes. Eligibility for the Home Child Care Provider or Home Support Worker Pilot Program:

  • Have a genuine and valid full-time job offer from a Canadian company (at least 30 hours per week). There is no need for LMIA. OR
  • Have 24 months of job experience in Canada during the last 36 months.
  • Have a minimum language skill of CLB 5 in English or French for all 4 language skills – listening, reading, speaking, and writing.
  • Have completed at least one year of post-secondary study in Canada.
  • Be eligible to enter Canada.
  • Plan to live somewhere other than Quebec.
    If an applicant’s family members want to work or study in Canada, they can come as well.
